Maliha has set up a new date with Sharjah, in the final of the UAE Men's Handball Cup, which is the second final between the two teams, after they met in the Federation Cup final, and the "King" prevailed, while they met in the Vice President's Cup final during last season, and Sharjah also won.
Maliha, who are having an exceptional season, qualified after defeating Al Jazira 34-31 in the semi-finals, while Sharjah qualified at the expense of Shabab Al Ahli 31-29 in the same round.
Maliha defeated Sharjah 25-23 in the preliminary round, and topped the second group, from which the two finalists were eliminated, with 7 points, from a win against Al Ain as well, and a loss to Dibba Al Hisn.
Maliha includes a distinguished group of players led by the veteran Egyptian coach Walid Abdelkafi, most notably the professional duo Ahmed Qasim and Omar Fouly, as well as Ahmed Saeed, who was born in the country, in addition to the local players, Ahmed Ismail, Sultan Hashem, Salem Bilal, Mohammed Malallah, Hassan Ali, Ahmed Khamis, Ismail Faraj, Mohammed Eid, Saeed bin Khalid, Abdulaziz bin Khamis, and Ahmed Saif.
Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club, was keen to be present at Al Wasl Hall and support the team, in the presence of a number of club members. He met with the players after the match, congratulated them on the honorable performance that put the team in the final for the second time this season, and asked them to exert more effort in all tournaments.
The final is the third for “The King” during the current season, after he succeeded in winning the Super Cup and the Federation Cup, and he aspires to continue his dominance over local championships with a “perfect score,” to repeat the “quintuple” of last season, chasing a new record by winning the 44th title in the history of handball at Sharjah Club.
Sharjah has won the General League Shield 17 times, 10 titles for the President’s Cup, 6 Super Cup titles, the Emirates Cup 5 times, 3 cups in the Vice President’s Cup for Handball, and the Federation Cup 2023-2024, in addition to the UAE-Bahrain Super Cup, two bronze medals in the Asian Clubs Champions Cup 2019, and a bronze medal in the Gulf Cup 2023, and is preparing to participate in the Asian Clubs Championship next month in Kuwait.
