Coach Abdulaziz Al-Anbari, the former star of the national team and Sharjah, won the title of Sports Personality in the “Second Edition” of the Mleiha Ramadan Forum, which is organized by the Mleiha Club, under the slogan “Meeting and Communication”, and began with football and volleyball competitions, and includes a large number of events, most notably the Ramadan Council, which discusses the “concerns” of sports clubs.
Al-Anbari was honored with the title of Sports Personality in recognition of his career on the field, as a player and coach for Sharjah and Khorfakkan, during the opening of the football tournament at the club's auxiliary field. The ceremony was attended by Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club, Rashid Al-Mahyan, Chairman of the Parents' Council for Students in the Central Region, Musbeh Saif Awad, Director of Al-Hamriya Municipality, Salem Al-Mayala, Director of Al-Madam Municipality, Salem Rashid Al-Ketbi, Secretary of Mleiha Club, Abdulrahman Bin Darwish, Director of Mleiha Youth Center, and a number of other figures.
The opening match resulted in Al Bataeh Municipality defeating Mleiha Municipality 4-0, with goals scored by Bader Abdullah, Ahmed Hamdi, Mohammed Adnan, and Ahmed Saif Al Din, while Al Madam Municipality defeated Al Dhaid Municipality 2-0 in the opening volleyball match.
Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni expressed his delight at the successful launch of the football and volleyball tournaments, as part of the activities of the Mleiha Ramadan Forum, praising the high level of competition and the sportsmanship shown by all participants, and commending the efforts of the participating teams and the organizers of the prominent sporting event.
Al-Khasouni stressed that honoring Al-Anbari with the title of Sports Personality of the Year 2024 comes in appreciation and recognition of the wonderful career and important contributions he has made in the world of sports, and reflects the community’s appreciation for his prominent role and valuable contributions in developing and spreading the sportsmanship in the community.
Abdulaziz Al-Anbari, who inaugurated the football tournament, thanked the management of the Mleiha Club and the organizing committee of the forum for the wonderful initiative, stressing that the title of sports personality is an honor for him, and that such initiatives have a positive impact on generations in spreading the sports spirit.
Al-Anbari congratulated Al Ain on their victory over Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia and their qualification for the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League, stressing that “The Boss” honored Emirati football and presented a level befitting it. He pointed out that this year’s edition of the ADNOC Pro League is witnessing strong competition, but what is wonderful is Al Wasl’s lead at the top of the standings, and this is not strange for “The Emperor,” even though the championships are still up for grabs and the final stretch of the tournament is difficult. I predict Al Wasl will win the league because there is a lot of work being done within the club, and this confirms that competition exists among all the teams. I hope that Emirati football will return to the forefront and achieve international success.
