Participants in the summer program of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club were introduced to the contents of the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization during a visit organized by the club yesterday morning as part of its activities under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council. The visit was coordinated with the Sharjah Museums Authority and included in the program's activities to introduce participants to museums and sites that are important landmarks in the Emirate of Sharjah. During the visit, participants explored the historical periods represented in the museum's collection and received a detailed explanation of the exhibits and the various wings displaying many rare artifacts and cultural treasures from the Islamic world. It is worth noting that the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, established in 2008, houses more than 5,000 artifacts and rare manuscripts from the history of the Islamic world. These artifacts and manuscripts are distributed across the museum's two main wings: Islamic Beliefs and Islamic Sciences. The participants toured the museum's halls and explored the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, which comprises seven large themed galleries spread across two floors: the Abu Bakr Gallery for Islamic Beliefs, the Ibn Al-Haytham Gallery for Science and Technology, and four galleries dedicated to Islamic arts. They also visited the Special Exhibitions Hall, which hosts temporary exhibitions from both within and outside the UAE. At the end of the tour, Abdullah Balajid Al-Ketbi, Head of the Cultural Committee, Board Member of the Mleiha Club, and Head of the Summer Activities Organizing Committee, commended the Sharjah Accessibility Authority for providing opportunities for citizens to access the rich collections of museums throughout the Emirate of Sharjah. He emphasized the importance of the Museum of Islamic Civilization and the valuable information and treasures it contains, which the participants learned about. On behalf of the Mleiha Club, he expressed his gratitude to the museum's management for their warm welcome, their attentiveness, and the valuable information they provided, which enriched the participants' knowledge and fulfilled the objectives of their visit.
