With exceptional organization and wide participation, the Mleiha region in the Emirate of Sharjah witnessed the second Mleiha Winter Marathon, organized by the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club in cooperation with the region's Municipal Council, Mleiha Municipality, Bee'ah, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and the Sharjah Police General Command. This second marathon was held at the request of local residents and a group of athletes following the success of the first. A total of 123 runners of various ages participated, divided into four categories. The second Mleiha Winter Marathon, with its sporting details, highlighted a successful experience that contributes to promoting sportsmanship and encouraging the community to engage in physical activity. The marathon witnessed a tremendous turnout from participants and attendees, filling the area with enthusiasm and sporting energy. The overwhelming turnout exceeded expectations, giving the event a special character and establishing it as a prominent sporting event in the region. This significant interest also reflected the community's desire to support local sporting events and contribute to promoting physical activity and sportsmanship in the area. With the starting whistle and the signal to begin the race, participants set off to traverse the distance between the desert and archaeological sites of Mleiha, passing through tourist areas that witnessed a large influx of campers. At the end of the race, the results were announced. In the 40+ age category, Saeed Ateeq Salem, Saleh Mohammed Salem, and Saeed Obaid Al Ketbi, all from the Mleiha region, took first place. In the under-16 category, Saeed Suhail Ali and Ahmed Saeed Al Ketbi shone, securing second and third place respectively, while Ahan Yasser Al Sheikh finished first. In the 16-29 age category, Ismail Al Kharshi claimed first place, followed by Naaman Al Asawi and Yasser Al Shaashoui in second and third place, respectively. Badr Al-Din Al-Jumaili, Sufyan Al-Masoudi, and Mohammed Al-Sharqi topped the 30-40 age category amidst great joy and fierce competition. The winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes by Ahmed Salem Humaidi Al-Ketbi, a member of the Sharjah Consultative Council; Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club; Salem Rashid Al-Ketbi, Secretary General of the Mleiha Club; Mohammed Bin Hadhibah Al-Ketbi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Club; and Badr Al-Mazmi, Head of the Sports Committee at the Mleiha Club. Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, praised the participation and large turnout, emphasizing the club's commitment to promoting sports activities in the region.
