The Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club announced the completion of all preparations for the Ramadan football and volleyball tournaments for institutions in the Central Region, in addition to the fourth edition of the International Ramadan Chess Championship, a women's day, a cultural competition on traditional topics, and a Holy Quran competition for club members, as well as a pre-iftar competition to be held in Mleiha Park. The official announcement was made during a press conference chaired by Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, who expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Union and Ruler of Sharjah, and praised the efforts of the Sharjah Sports Council, the government sponsor of sports activities in the Emirate of Sharjah. He continued: “We are honored that the club will serve as a gathering place for all members of the Central Region’s various institutions during the holy month of Ramadan. This will be achieved through the participation of teams from institutions across the Central Region’s cities and towns, including Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh, Al Madam, and Mleiha. The activities will begin with volleyball and football, with the opening volleyball match between Al Wusta Channel and Al Madam Municipality, and the football match between Mleiha Municipality and Mleiha School. Other activities and games will follow throughout the holy month.” Al Khasouni explained, “We expect more than 600 athletes to participate in our Ramadan activities. There will be valuable prizes for the champions in all competitions and tournaments. I hope that the volleyball tournament will be the foundation for establishing a Mleiha Club men’s team in the future, especially since the club already has youth teams for the sport and will be fielding a team bearing the club’s name in the Ramadan tournament.” He noted the number of teams officially approved for the football tournaments, including the teams from the municipalities of Mleiha, Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh, and Al Madam. The Central Region Channel is participating in Al Dhaid with two teams (A and B), as is the Civil Defense team in the Central Region. There is also the Mleiha Youth team, the Mleiha Basic and Secondary School team, and the Central Region Planning and Surveying team. He revealed, "Regarding the international chess tournament, it is considered one of the most popular tournaments, attracting participation from international masters, most notably the Emirati star Salem Abdulrahman." Al Khasouni praised the club's team for their outstanding work in organizing the reading festival, a truly exceptional event recently held by the Mleiha Club.
