The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club, Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni, revealed that the club's board is working to revitalize its role in the community, attract local players, and prioritize their participation in all sports. This stems from the club's conviction in its significant role and responsibility towards the region's youth. He explained that the club operates according to a system aligned with its vision of developing well-rounded athletes, thereby contributing to a much-needed boost for sports by training local players. He emphasized that the board aspires for all sports to play a prominent role, ensuring that attention is not limited to one sport over another and that age-group teams receive due importance. He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the club's sports projects, as it did for other clubs, leading to the suspension of training and competitions. Al-Khasouni clarified that the board of directors has not decided to cancel any sports, despite the widespread talk about disbanding the under-17 football team. He emphasized that the team remains registered with the federation and denied the rumors circulating about its cancellation. Al-Khasouni explained that the conclusions drawn from this matter are inaccurate, asserting that the rumors stem from the implementation of precautionary measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the desire of some parents of the team's players to transfer their children to other clubs. Al-Khasouni affirmed that Mleiha Club is one of the clubs in the Emirate of Sharjah, operating within the sports system, and has promising ambitions to support Emirati sports without compromising the players and their future. On the contrary, it will strengthen its commitment to being a source of talent for the region in football and all other sports.
