To achieve the standards that support the continued membership of the Emirate of Sharjah in the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities, Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni Al-Ketbi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, signed a renewal of the commitment document to age-friendly, to provide a healthy environment within its sports facilities that is suitable for all segments of society.

Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni Al-Ketbi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, signed the renewal of the commitment document to age consideration, which comes within the Sharjah Age-Friendly City program.

The document aligns with the objectives of the Mleiha Sports Club regarding the integration and synergy of roles, so that the club is a location that is committed to taking into account all age groups, especially the elderly and age groups, in terms of its services, programs and facilities, in order to promote the approach of the Emirate of Sharjah and its endeavor to be an ideal environment in which people of all ages live in prosperity.

Following the forecast, Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni Al-Ketbi emphasized the importance of the club supporting all purposeful initiatives, foremost among which are the principles of age consideration.

Al-Ketbi pointed out that the signing of the renewal contributes to the club’s efforts to complete the club’s achievement of the World Federation of the Disabled’s certificate for facilities qualified for people with disabilities, thus becoming the first club in the country to obtain this certificate after qualifying all its facilities to be friendly to people with disabilities.

The Mleiha Club earned the certificate after fulfilling all the requirements for integrating people with disabilities into all the club's halls and facilities, enabling them to practice sports, cultural and social activities in accordance with the nature of their needs.

Al-Ketbi explained that the document aims to create a sustainable physical, health, socio-economic environment that allows the elderly to live comfortably and with dignity, where institutions and departments, including the Mleiha Club, commit to adapting services, programs, and infrastructure to meet the needs of the elderly, and to work towards achieving the standards that support the continued membership of the Emirate of Sharjah in the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and contribute to spreading awareness of the concepts and culture of age-friendly cities by all available means.
