Continuing its summer program, and as part of its first week, which focuses on introducing participants to the landmarks of the Emirate of Sharjah through field trips, the Mleiha Club's members and players visited the Resistance Memorial in Khor Fakkan. The visit was part of the summer program held under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council, whose first week's theme is "Here is Sharjah." Forty Mleiha Club members learned about the memorial, which was erected by order of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to commemorate the heroism and sacrifices of the people of Khor Fakkan during the Portuguese invasion of 1507. They listened to an explanation of the memorial's significance and its place among the people of Khor Fakkan, as it is considered one of the city's most prominent symbols due to its close connection to its history and its educational role. Nasser Al Mahrazi, a member of the club's board of directors and the general supervisor of the summer program, emphasized the importance of the visit to the Resistance Memorial in Khor Fakkan, which was included in the planned field trips. For the participants in the club, which aims to introduce them to the championships of the people of Khorfakkan, explaining that the young participants gained a lot of information during the visit to this important monument, which is one of the qualitative landmarks in the Emirate of Sharjah, which the club is keen to provide to the participants in the visits program, which bears the slogan “Our holiday is different.”
