Sixty cyclists of various ages from several clubs in the Emirate of Sharjah participated in the cycling festival organized by the Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club yesterday afternoon, as part of its activities promoting sports sustainability. The festival, dedicated to cycling, saw a remarkable turnout of men, youth, juniors, and children, as well as women, and lived up to its slogan: "Let's ride our bicycles for a better future." Held on the Mleiha cycling track to mark World Bicycle Day, the festival reflected the club's and the participating cyclists' commitment to supporting sports sustainability, one of the festival's objectives. The event instilled a sense of sportsmanship in the participants, particularly with the participation of a team from the Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, whose impressive performance garnered attention. The festival flag was raised by His Excellency Abdullah Salem Al Khasouni, Vice Chairman of the Mleiha Club's Board of Directors, accompanied by Hamad Tamim Al Ketbi, Board Member and Head of the Individual Games Committee. The cyclists then set off, covering a distance of 5 kilometers, a journey that motivated them to complete the festival, demonstrating their appreciation for the importance and significance of this event. In light of his call for sports sustainability, which raises the slogan of sports as a way of life. At the end of the festival, His Excellency Abdullah Salem Al-Khasouni and Hamad Tamim Al-Ketbi honored the participating clubs and honored the cyclists and bicycles, in addition to honoring the remarkable participation of Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, as well as honoring the organizing committee by the Maliha Club and praising its roles in organizing this event with remarkable success and with goals that strengthened the sustainability programs that the club seeks, in translation of the directives of the Sharjah Sports Council and in fulfillment of the Sharjah Sports Council Award for Sports Sustainability.
